If you don't think that Muhammad Ali is the Greatest of All Time, then you should probably not continue reading. Not because this will offend you, but because I'm guessing you're too lame to continue existing for much longer, so you should go enjoy the tiny amount of time you have left. Or maybe you should read these stunning quotes, and it will make you less lame. Muhammad Ali was the greatest boxer ever. He was possibly the greatest athlete in American sports history. Rarely has an athlete dominated as he did. He is also a philosopher and impressively wise man. More than anything, he is probably the Greatest Talker of Smack to ever grace the English language, and God Bless him for it.
11.) If you even dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize.
10.) I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.
9.) Wars of nations are fought to change maps. But wars of poverty are fought to map change.
8.) I am America. I am the part you won't recognize. But get used to me. Black, confident, cocky; my name, not yours; my religion, not yours; my goals, my own; get used to me.
7.) I'm so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and was in bed before the room was dark.
6.) It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe.
5.) It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up.
4.) A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life.
3.) It's not bragging if you can back it up.
2.) My way of joking is to tell the truth. That's the funniest joke in the world.
1.) I done wrestled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale; handcuffed lightning, thrown thunder in jail; only last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalised a brick; I'm so mean I make medicine sick.
This list was really difficult. There's so much great material that I had trouble narrowing it down to 30, much less 11. Equally difficult was maintaining a balance between the Greatest's wisdom and his smack-talking. I think I did a decent job of it, but then of course I do. I wouldn't have posted it otherwise.
OK, I would have, but that's an entirely different issue. Normally in this section I justify my choices. In this case I don't feel at all like I need to do that. Rather, I'll just skip directly to the
Honorable Mentions:
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. He can't hit what he can't see.
Frazier is so ugly that he should donate his face to the US Bureau of Wildlife.
Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It's just plain wrong.
I am the astronaut of boxing. Joe Louis and Dempsey were just jet pilots. I'm in a world of my own.
I'll beat him so bad he'll need a shoehorn to put his hat on.
Superman don't need no seat belt.
There are more pleasant things to do than beat up people.
I'm not the greatest; I'm the double greatest. Not only do I knock 'em out, I pick the round.
When you can whip any man in the world, you never know peace.
Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs?
No one else dominated as he did? What are you talking about? Have you even heard of the truly greatest of them all, Rocky Marciano? Sure, Ali had speed, he had technique, and his own style... Did he Retire undefeated? Didn't Think so...
Marciano is truly the most dominant fighter of all time. If not the greatest...

@Chapu
To be honest, I don't know tons about boxing. I love it, but I'm not big on getting too into sports history, usually. However, I would like to point out that never in this post did I claim that no one else dominated like he did. I said "rarely has an athlete dominated as he did." I'll grant you that Marciano could easily be considered to have been more dominant in his time than was Ali, which doesn't contradict anything that I said in this post. However, I will say that I don't think that anyone even comes close to dominating the sport of boxing as a whole as does Ali. His shadow looms over the entire history of the sport, and I suspect that, given the state of boxing today, it will continue to do so for a very long time to come.
